Author Steen-Nøkleberg is a leading figure in the Norwegian composition world and has also achieved outstanding results as a pianist. In particular, his "Complete Recordings of Grieg's Piano Works" has received high praise. This book is a collection of the author's many years of familiarity with Grieg's works and performances, written for pianists and students as a culmination of his experience in interpreting the music. It does not aim to be a biography or an essay on art, but rather avoids academic analysis, focusing on the scores themselves that Grieg left behind, and attempting to approach Grieg's own compositional methods through performance. It can be said to be a "moral guide" for understanding Grieg, and is a valuable book that is essential for pianists, Grieg music researchers, and fans.
